Location: Ika is a small fishing village on the Adriatic coast in western Croatia, in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, part of the Opatija Riviera. It lies between Opatija and Lovran, on the slopes of Mount Ucka.
Historical influences:
It has long fishing and shipbuilding traditions.
Under the Austro-Hungarian period, many affluent villas (Art Nouveau / Jugendstil style) were built by nobility. Ika became more of a holiday destination in that era.
After WWI, with shifting borders, the region became part of Yugoslavia, and then, since 1991, part of independent Croatia.
