History
Lingueglietta dates back to the medieval era, approximately around the 12th or 13th century. It was originally established as a strategic military outpost to defend against pirate raids and invasions from the sea. The village was part of the Republic of Genoa’s extensive maritime network, which controlled much of Liguria and engaged in trade, naval battles, and territorial defense. Its fortifications, including the castle and city walls, are testimony to its historical military importance. Throughout the centuries, Lingueglietta remained a small but vital part of local maritime commerce and defense. The village has preserved much of its medieval architecture and remains a charming example of historical Ligurian life.
